Okay, lets say you have x. Now you can also have 2x 3x 4 etc. The number next to x is the coefficient. (I'm pretty sure. Don't quote me on that)
LEt me find the equations for friction. I think it's F=μFn Where F is the frictional force and Fn is the normal force (of the surface that the object is on)....don't quote me on that either. Let me look it up. I know μ is the coefficient of friction. So as that increases, the frictional force increases.
